Earth Day is here! And it’s the 50th anniversary of this holiday started by former Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson!
Here in Eken Park, the arrival of Earth Day generally means celebrating by doing a neighborhood cleanup and getting outside to enjoy the spring. This year doesn’t have to be any different.
You can still get outside and do your own neighborhood cleanup. Just get a trash bag, some gloves, and pick up trash wherever you find it in the neighborhood. The parks, bike trails, and creek thank you. When you are done, just put the trash bag into your trash bin.
The Greenspace Committee is still taking volunteers for adopting different neighborhood gardens. This is a perfect time for you to expand your garden and enjoy the excitement of spring planting! Just reach out to Rick (rick.schwalbach@gmail.com) or the officers (cochair@ekenpark.org) to see which spaces are available for adoption.
Happy Earth Day Eken Park!
